At a celebration on March 28, we welcomed our second cohort of interns to the Nashville Teacher Residency family. In the upcoming weeks, these 25 interns (aspiring teachers!) will begin the eight-week spring internship. During the internship, they will have the chance to see what NTR’s practice driven program is all about, visit partner schools (and some of their future students!), and “try-out” teaching.
NTR is committed to recruiting, training and supporting an experienced, diverse and home-grown teacher workforce. Of the 25 interns, 72 percent identify as people of color, 28 percent are Metro Nashville Public School graduates and 36 percent are first generation college graduates.
NTR is also excited to announce that our residents will be in eight Nashville partner schools this fall including LEAD High School, Valor Collegiate Academies, Knowledge Academies, LEAD Southeast, Cameron College Prep, East End Prep, STEM Prep and Liberty Collegiate Academy.
We look forward to guiding our newest interns (and future teacher residents) on their journey to becoming excellent teachers for Nashville students.
