Patricia Pryor

Manager of Resident Development (ELA)

Patricia Pryor is a Manager of Resident Development at Nashville Teacher Residency. In her role, Patricia is responsible for supporting and coaching Residents,Job-Embedded Candidates, and Mentor Teachers in NTR’s partner schools, supporting class sequences, and leading special projects. Though Patricia is new to NTR, she has spent the last five years of her career supporting teachers in schools.

Patricia is a native of Cleveland, OH. She holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Ohio University, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Middle Tennessee State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University.

Patricia began her teaching career as a dance instructor and substitute teacher for Murfreesboro City Schools and Williamson County Schools. Her passion for students led her to work full time at a pre-school. While there, she decided to go back to school to pursue her teacher license and Masters degree. During this time she worked as an Education Assistant for a middle school in Rutherford County Schools until completing her degree and obtaining her teacher license. Once completing her degree she went back to the school and taught 7th grade ELA for four years. While there, Patricia used her passion for literacy and fine arts to create highly engaging lessons and meaningful opportunities for black and brown students. In 2019, she became a founder for the first KIPP school in Antioch, TN -continuing her commitment to serve economically mdisadvantaged students from diverse backgrounds. During her six years at KIPP, Patricia was a 5th grade ELA teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach, Dean of Culture, and Assistant Principal of Humanities. Patricia is deeply driven by results, relationships, and the belief that reading is a universal right for all children.

Outside of NTR, Patricia serves on the board for Novus Smart Academy and participates in TECA as an alumni of their fellowship program.
