Demetria Giles is a seasoned educator, curriculum strategist, and advocate for equity-centered innovation in teaching and learning. As Director of Curriculum at Nashville Teacher Residency, she leads the design and implementation of high-quality, culturally responsive instructional programs that prepare new teachers to make lasting positive impact in the classroom.
Demetria’s professional journey spans nearly 20 years in roles as a teacher, principal, and education consultant. She is passionate about culturally responsive pedagogy, critical thinking, and project-based learning. She is the Founder of SchoolED, an education consultancy that supports families, schools and communities in executing student-centered, self-directed approaches to learning & organizational design. Her experience as a homeschool parent adds deep knowledge and insight to her work.
Previously, Demetria was the Director of 9th Bridge School, a private early childhood and elementary school located in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her vision setting and writing have been recognized for spotlighting the use case of emerging technologies like AI and Web3 to empower students, educators and communities seeking tools for self-determination.
She holds a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Sociology from Penn State University and is a recent Fellow of the Surge Institute. A lifelong learner, she brings deep curiosity, a commitment to justice, and a passion for Black & Brown intellectual preservation into every space she leads.
Demetria has also served on nonprofit boards, led large-scale homeschool communities, and regularly engages in civic & policy work. She is dedicated to creating the kind of learning spaces where educators are cultivated, students are seen, and bold ideas thrive.
